Eleven teams competed in the tournament, which was played in a single round-robin format rather than a double round-robin format, so each team only played each other once. Aliyat Al-Shorta won the league title for the third time in a row. Aliyat Al-Shorta's Douglas Aziz won the best player award for the season. At an Iraqi Olympic Committee meeting on 4 February 1971, it was decided that champions Aliyat Al-Shorta would be Iraq's representative at the 1971 Asian Champion Club Tournament, thus becoming the first Iraqi team to participate in a major continental club competition.https://www.theasiangame.net/aliyat-al-shurta-iraqs-once-great-football-team/ Aliyat Al-Shurta: Iraq’s once great Football Club The Asian Game 24 October 2019 Hassanin Mubarak Al-Bareed wal-Barq's Kadhim Abboud was top scorer with eight goals.Al-Sabti Ali Iraqi League History 1956-1974 Iraq League table main WDL 5 QR 2 yes ASH Aliyat Al-Shorta FTH Al-Firqa Al-Thalitha SIK Al-Sikak Al-Hadeed QWJ Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya QWS Al-Quwa Al-Siyara MAS Maslahat Naqil Al-Rukab KAH Kahrabaa Al-Wusta BAR Al-Bareed wal-Barq FKH Al-Firqa Al-Khamisa OMM Al-Omma KUL Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya 6 4 0 21 6 C 5 4 1 14 10 5 3 2 16 12 5 1 4 10 11 4 2 4 16 13 3 4 3 10 9 3 4 3 13 13 Not including the goals of the draw between Al-Bareed wal-Barq and Kahrabaa Al-Wusta. 2 5 3 15 13 KAH 2 3 5 12 17 OMM 2 2 6 10 19 Not including the goals of the draw between Al-Omma and Al-Firqa Al-Khamisa. 0 4 6 6 20 green1 1971 Asian Champion Club Tournament ACCT #FFBBBB Relegated to Iraq Central FA First Division R R R R complete Ali Al-Sabti Archive Results main FBR grey BAR FKH FTH ASH KAH KUL OMM QWJ QWS SIK MAS Al-Bareed wal-Barq 4–1 null 2–2 null 4–1 null 2–2 null null Al-Firqa Al-Khamisa null 1–1 null null 2–0 null 1–2 null 0–1 2–1 Al-Firqa Al-Thalitha 1–0 null 0–3 2–0 null 2–2 null 1–0 null null Aliyat Al-Shorta null 2–0 null 2–0 null 3–1 null 2–1 null 0–0 Kahrabaa Al-Wusta null 2–2 null null 3–1 null 3–1 null 1–1 1–2 Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya 1–1 null 0–0 1–6 null 0–1 null 0–3 null null Al-Omma null null null 1–2 null 1–0 null 2–3 1–2 Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya 1–0 null 1–3 0–0 null 2–1 null 0–1 null null Al-Quwa Al-Siyara null 4–3 null null 1–1 null 3–0 null 1–2 0–2 Al-Sikak Al-Hadeed 3–1 null 1–2 1–1 null 2–2 null 1–2 null null Maslahat Naqil Al-Rukab 1–1 null 2–2 null null 0–0 null 0–1 null 0–1 The match ended in a draw.
