The final was the last one before the tournament was cancelled due to the Spanish Civil War until 1939, and therefore the last one under the "Copa del Predidente de la República" name. In the match, held on 21 June at the Mestalla in Valencia, Real Madrid (then known as "Madrid FC" for political reasons) defeated Barcelona 2-1 in the first El Clásico final. It was Real Madrid's 7th title in their 15th final, while Barcelona appeared for the 16th time and were denied their 13th title.Spain - List of Cup Finals RSSSF https://www.rsssf.org/tabless/spancuphist.html 18 April 2014 The match is remembered for the "impossible save" by Madrid goalkeeper Ricardo Zamora, which denied Barcelona's Josep Escolà from scoring a last-minute equaliser. This is the most remembered save in the history of Spanish football.Spain - Cup 1936 RSSSF https://www.rsssf.org/tabless/spancup1936.html 18 April 2014 Road to the final 1936 Copa del Presidente de la República Real MadridRoundBarcelonaOpponentResultLegsOpponentResultLegsArenas Getxo3–32–1 home; 1–2 away; 6–1 replayRound of 16Sporting Gijón4–00–0 away; 4–0 homeAthletic Bilbao3–12–1 home; 1–0 awayQuarter-finalsEspañol5–21–2 away; 4–0 homeHércules8–27–0 home; 1–2 awaySemi-finalsOsasuna9–52–4 away; 7–1 home Match details 21 June 1936 17:00 CET Madrid FC 2–1 https://archive.today/20130104014934/http://www.linguasport.com/futbol/nacional/copa/copa36.htm Report es FC Barcelona Eugenio 6 Lecue 12 Escolà 29 Mestalla Stadium, Valencia 22,000 Julio Ostalé _old laced _whitetop ffffff ffffff ffffff 000000 Madrid FC _blue3 _3bluestripes _blue3 _hoops blue2 a60042 a60042 a60042 3D69AA A60042 Barcelona GK 1ESP 1931 Ricardo Zamora (c)DF 2ESP 1931 Ciriaco ErrastiDF 3ESP 1931 Jacinto QuincocesMF 4ESP 1931 Pedro RegueiroMF 5ESP 1931 Antonio BonetMF 6MEX 1934 José Ramón SautoFW 7ESP 1931 EugenioFW 8ESP 1931 Luis RegueiroFW 9ESP 1931 Ildefonso SañudoFW 10ESP 1931 Simón LecueFW 11ESP 1931 EmilínManager:ESP 1931 Francisco Bru GK 1 ESP 1931 José IborraDF 2 ESP 1931 Pedro AresoDF 3 ESP 1931 José BayoMF 4 ESP 1931 José ArgemíMF 5ESP 1931 Antonio FrancoMF 6ESP 1931 Domènec BalmanyaFW 7ESP 1931 Martí Ventolrà (c)FW 8ESP 1931 Josep RaichFW 9ESP 1931 Josep EscolàFW 10URU Enrique FernándezFW 11ESP 1931 Julio MunllochManager:IRL Patrick O'Connell See also El Clásico References External links MundoDeportivo.com es Marca.com es AS.com es Association football Spain June 2017 Category:Copa del Rey finals Copa Del Rey Final 1936 Copa Del Rey Final 1936 Category:1935–36 in Spanish football Copa Category:June 1936 sports events in Europe Category:Football competitions in Valencia Category:20th century in Valencia
