Lashinda Demus in lane 3, broke quickly from the start, quickly making up the stagger on lane 4 Zuzana Hejnová. In lane 8, defending champion Melaine Walker was also out fast. Demus maintained her advantage as Kaliese Spencer made a run at her, but Spencer faltered. The stretch run was the top two finishers from the previous championship, but the medals were reversed as Demus set a new National Record for the United States and the number three all time mark in the event.http://www.iaaf.org/statistics/toplists/inout=o/age=n/season=0/sex=W/all=y/legal=A/disc=400H/detail.html 100 Metres - women - senior - outdoor - 2021 Medalists GoldSilverBronzeLashinda DemusUSA 2011 WorldMelaine WalkerJamaica 2011 WorldNatalya AntyukhRussia 2011 World Records World recordYuliya Pechonkina RUS52.34Tula, Russia8 August 2003Championship recordMelaine Walker JAM52.42Berlin, Germany20 August 2009World leadingKaliese Spencer JAM52.79London, Great Britain5 August 2011African recordNezha Bidouane MAR52.90Sevilla, Spain25 August 1999Asian recordQing Han CHN53.96Beijing, China9 September 1993Yinglan Song CHNGuangzhou, China22 November 2001North, Central American and Caribbean recordMelaine Walker JAM52.42Berlin, Germany20 August 2009South American recordLucimar Teodoro BRA55.84Belém, Brazil24 May 2009European recordYuliya Pechonkina RUS52.34Tula, Russia8 August 2003Oceanian recordDebbie Flintoff-King AUS53.17Seoul, South Korea28 September 1988 Qualification standards A timeB time 55.40 56.55 Schedule Date Time RoundAugust 29, 2011 12:20 HeatsAugust 30, 2011 19:00 SemifinalsSeptember 1, 2011 21:15 Final Results KEY:qFastest non-qualifiersQQualifiedNRNational recordPBPersonal bestSBSeasonal best Heats Qualification: First 4 in each heat (Q) and the next 4 fastest (q) advance to the semifinals.
