Sports season 2000–01 National Division Two England Bracknell Rugby Lions (also promoted) West Hartlepool, Lydney, Camberley 1,000 – Rosslyn Park v Rugby, 24 February 2001 38,518 (average 363 per match)Note that 76 home attendances are missing (see below) - so the total attendance will not be 100% accurate. The average attendance has also been taken into account with the missing games not included. 50 – West Hartlepool v Camberley, 31 March 2001 290 – Mike Scott (Kendal) 17 – Ed Smithies, (Harrogate) 1999–00 2001-02 The 2000–01 National Division Two was the fourteenth full season of rugby union within the third tier of the English league system currently known as National League 1. New teams to the division included West Hartlepool and Rugby Lions who were relegated from the 1999–2000 Allied Dunbar Premiership Two while promoted teams included Kendal and Esher who were promoted as champions of National Division Three North and National Division Three South respectively.http://moseleyrugby.co.uk/oldsite/%5E%20CLUB_HISTORY/League%20Tables/past%20leagues%20199900.htm Final League Tables – 1999/2000 Moseley Rugby 6 May 2000 24 July 2015 24 July 2015 https://web.archive.org/web/20150724172347/http://moseleyrugby.co.uk/oldsite/%5E%20CLUB_HISTORY/League%20Tables/past%20leagues%20199900.htm dead http://www.rugbyarchive.net/pagine/StagioneCompetizioni.aspx?ID=24 Jewson National League 2 1999/00 www.rugbyarchive.net 6 May 2000 24 July 2015 30 December 2017 https://web.archive.org/web/20171230232916/http://www.rugbyarchive.net/Pagine/StagioneCompetizioni.aspx?ID=24 dead The league system was 2 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. The league champions were Bracknell who won the title by five points and gained promotion to the 2001–02 National Division One. They would be joined by runners up Rugby Lions (making an instant return to the division) who squeaked past Rosslyn Park despite being level on points due to a better points for/conceded record.http://www.englandrugby.com/fixtures-and-results/competitions/national-leagues/2000-2001/ National League Two englandrugby.com/ 28 April 2001 At the other end of the table West Hartlepool, Lydney and Camberley would be the unfortunate teams to be relegated. West Hartlepool were easily the worse team in the division, failing to win a single game all season and suffering their second successive relegation in a row (part of a slide that would see them drop out of the national league system into regional rugby) while Lydney went down having only played 22 games due to fixture congestion/cancellations – although even if the Gloucestershire-based side won these remaining fixtures it would not have been enough to keep them up. West Hartlepool would drop to the 2001–02 National Division Three North while Camberley and Lydney would drop to the 2001–02 National Division Three South.http://www.englandrugby.com/fixtures-and-results/competitions/national-leagues/2001-2002/group/10266 National League Three North 2001-02 englandrugby.com 1 September 2001 http://www.englandrugby.com/fixtures-and-results/competitions/national-leagues/2001-2002/group/10267 National League Three South 2001-02 englandrugby.com 1 September 2001 yes Participating teams and locations England 400 right 2000–01 National Division Two teams in England England 51.416040 -0.753979 white Bracknell top 80 England 51.335389 -0.742855 white Camberley bottom 80 England 51.38085 -0.38961 white Esher right 80 England 53.745 -2.988056 white Fylde left 80 England 53.992120 -1.541811 white Harrogate right 80 England 54.328005 -2.746290 white Kendal right 80 England 51.729130 -2.530504 white Lydney right 80 England 51.401409 -1.323113 white Newbury left 80 England 52.923920 -1.212394 white Nottingham right 80 England 53.763201 -2.703089 white Preston right 80 England 51.463457 -0.249171 white Rosslyn Park right 80 England 52.370878 -1.265032 white Rugby right 80 England 54.691745 -1.212926 white W Hartlepool right 80 England 54.073666 -2.014421 white Wharfedale left 80 Team Stadium CapacityCity/Area Previous seasonBracknellLily Hill Park1,000Bracknell, Berkshire7thCamberleyWatchetts Recreation Ground2,000Camberley, Surrey12thEsherMolesey Road3,000Hersham, SurreyPromoted from National 2 South (1st)FyldeWoodlands Memorial Ground7,500 (500 seats)Courage Official Rugby Union Club Directory 1990–91 1990 Burlington Publishing Co. IMarch 2017 have used scores from the England Rugby website to ensure that they are accurate with reports from Statbunker primarily used to show scorers, attendances and referees were relevant. Statbunker scores are consistent with rest of sources from 16 December 2000 onwards.
