The race was held on Sunday, June 20, 1993, in Cambridge Township, Michigan, at Michigan International Speedway, a 2 mi km moderate-banked D-shaped speedway. The race took the scheduled 200 laps to complete. In the final laps of the race, Hendrick Motorsports driver Ricky Rudd would manage to take advantage of a fuel-stricken Mark Martin, coasting his car to the finish on fuel to take his 14th career NASCAR Winston Cup Series victory and his only victory of the season.Harris Mike June 21, 1993 It's Miller time for Rudd 17 The Times https://www.newspapers.com/clip/116089534/its-miller-time-for-rudd/ January 9, 2023 Newspapers.com Higgins Tom June 21, 1993 Rudd gives it the gas to take Miller 400 race 17 Journal Tribune https://www.newspapers.com/clip/116089709/rudd-gives-it-the-gas-to-take-miller/ January 9, 2023 Newspapers.com To fill out the top three, Hendrick Motorsports driver Jeff Gordon and Morgan–McClure Motorsports driver Ernie Irvan would finish second and third, respectively. Background thumb|The layout of Michigan International Speedway, the venue where the race was held. The race was held at Michigan International Speedway, a 2 mi km moderate-banked D-shaped speedway located in Cambridge Township, Michigan. The track is used primarily for NASCAR events. It is known as a "sister track" to Texas World Speedway as MIS' oval design was a direct basis of TWS, with moderate modifications to the banking in the corners, and was used as the basis of Auto Club Speedway. The track is owned by International Speedway Corporation. Michigan International Speedway is recognized as one of motorsports' premier facilities because of its wide racing surface and high banking (by open-wheel standards; the 18-degree banking is modest by stock car standards).
