The Prohibition Party received a sizable number of votes in 1884, which the Democratic ticket won by a far narrower margin. New York's electors were decisive to Democrats winning the Electoral College vote. A portion of voters who usually voted Republican were particularly distrusting of the Republican presidential nominee James G. Blaine, making it probable that the Prohibition ticket (headed by a former Republican governor) attracted enough votes from disaffected Republicans in New York to swing the election.First 1960 Ticket https://www.newspapers.com/image/972352636 Newspapers.com subscription Anderson Daily Bulletin July 5, 2026 4 September 23, 1959 See also 1884 Republican National Convention 1884 Democratic National Convention References Category:Prohibition National Conventions Prohibition Prohibition National Convention Category:19th century in Pittsburgh Category:United States presidential nominating conventions in Pittsburgh Prohibition National Convention
