The Tribe, led by 11th year head coach Tony Shaver, played their home games at Kaplan Arena and were members of the Colonial Athletic Association. With his 11th season, Shaver became the longest-tenured coach in program history. The team finished the season 20–12, 10–6 in CAA play and lost in the championship game of the 2014 CAA men's basketball tournament to Delaware, 74–75. The one-point margin is the closest that William & Mary has come to qualifying for the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament; the Tribe lost all seven of its previous tournament bid-clinching games including three prior CAA championship games (1983, 2008, and 2010). Despite the team's final record, William & Mary elected not to participate in a postseason tournament, which would have been its first postseason bid since 2010. Preseason On October 22, 2013, William & Mary was picked to finish fifth, out of nine teams, in the Colonial Athletic Association's pre-season coaches poll. Junior guard Marcus Thornton was picked to the first all-conference team while senior forward Tim Rusthoven was selected to the second all-conference team.Gameday Page Splash https://caasports.com/SplashPage.dbml?SPLASH_AD_ID=714641 2023-01-11 caasports.com en dead https://web.archive.org/web/20131016161743/http://www.caasports.com/SplashPage.dbml?SPLASH_AD_ID=714641 2013-10-16 Roster Sourcehttp://www.tribeathletics.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=25100&SPID=80825&SPSID=606379 Men's Basketball - Roster - William & Mary - Athletics at William & Mary 2012-10-05 dead https://web.archive.org/web/20121122070033/http://www.tribeathletics.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=25100&SPID=80825&SPSID=606379 2012-11-22 #NameHeightWeightPositionClassHometownPrevious team(s)0Daniel Dixon6'5"200GFr.Great Falls, VirginiaLangley High School (Virginia) / Fishburne Military School2Julian Boatner6'2"185GSr.Bloomington, IndianaBloomington High School North3Marcus Thornton6'4"185GJr.Upper Marlboro, MarylandBishop McNamara High School4Omar Prewitt6'6"180G/FFr.Mount Sterling, KentuckyMontgomery County High School (KY)5Ben Whitlatch6'1"180GSr.Bloomington, IndianaBloomington High School South11Michael Schlotman6'4"190GFr.Munster, IndianaMunster High School12Brandon Britt6'2"200GSr.Chesapeake, VirginiaAtlantic Shores Christian School22Tim Rusthoven6'9"235FSr.Winfield, IllinoisWheaton Academy23Kyle Gaillard6'8"220FSr.Huntersville, North CarolinaNorth Mecklenburg High School24Fred Heldring6'9"245FSr.Winnetka, IllinoisMenomonee Falls High School25Terry Tarpey6'5"200GSo.Stamford, ConnecticutFairfield College Preparatory School31Sean Sheldon6'9"245FSo.Traverse City, MichiganSt. Francis High School41Jack Whitman6'9"225FFr.Lexington, KentuckyLexington Catholic High School43Tom Schalk6'8"220FJr.Burnsville, MinnesotaApple Valley High School Schedule and results Sourcehttp://www.tribeathletics.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_LANG=C&&DB_OEM_ID=25100&SPID=80825&SPSID=606372 Men's Basketball - Schedule - William & Mary - Athletics at William & Mary 2013-10-07 dead https://web.archive.org/web/20150610213444/http://www.tribeathletics.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_LANG=C&&DB_OEM_ID=25100&SPID=80825&SPSID=606372 2015-06-10 yes no yes yes |- !colspan=9 style="background:#006400; Thornton's 599 points on the season ranked fifth all-time in school history and the most by a player for the Tribe since 1959–60. Other accolades went to senior forward Tim Rusthoven, who was selected to the all-conference second team, and freshman Omar Prewitt, who was named the CAA Rookie of the Year, becoming only the second William & Mary men's player to receive this honor.
