It is best remembered for the third preseason game, in which quarterback Michael Vick broke his leg and was done for most of the season. Atlanta had two other quarterbacks take over for a combined 2–10 record (Doug Johnson and Kurt Kittner). Vick returned in week 14 and ended the season with a 3–1 record. After a 3–10 start, Reeves was fired by the Falcons on December 10, and defensive coordinator Wade Phillips took over as interim head coach for the rest of the season, going 2–1. For the season, the Falcons sported a new logo and uniforms.Uniform History http://static.nfl.com/static/content/public/static/pdf/media-guides/ATL-Media-Guide.pdf#page=377 NFL Enterprises, LLC 2019 Atlanta Falcons Media Guide August 13, 2019 July 29, 2020 September 2, 2020 https://web.archive.org/web/20200902001856/http://static.nfl.com/static/content/public/static/pdf/media-guides/ATL-Media-Guide.pdf#page=377 dead Offseason NFL draft 2003 NFL draft 2003 Atlanta Falcons 2 55 Bryan Scott Safety Penn State yes 4 121 Justin Griffith Fullback Mississippi State yes 5 159 Jon Olinger Wide receiver Cincinnati 6 196 LaTarence Dunbar Wide receiver TCU yes 6 202 Waine Bacon Cornerback Alabama 7 238 Demetrin Veal Defensive end Tennessee yes no no https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/atl/2003_draft.htm 2003 Atlanta Falcons Draftees Pro-Football-Reference.com December 17, 2013 Personnel 2003 Atlanta Falcons Owner/chief executive officer – Arthur Blank Senior advisor to the president – Bobby Beathard Vice president of football operations – Ron Hill College scouting coordinator – Reed Johnson Director of pro personnel – Les Snead Assistant to head coach/pro personnel – Marvin Bass Executive vice president/head coach – Dan Reeves Interim head coach – Wade Phillips Offensive coordinator – Pete Mangurian Quarterbacks – Mike Johnson Running backs – Ollie Wilson Wide receivers – George Stewart Tight ends – James Daniel Offensive line – Rennie Simmons Offensive quality control – Bill Lazor Defensive coordinator – Wade Phillips Defensive line – Bill Johnson Linebackers – Billy Davis Secondary – Emmitt Thomas Defensive quality control – Dennis Allen Special teams – Joe DeCamillis Strength and conditioning – Al Miller Assistant strength and conditioning – Rocky Colburn Roster 2003 Atlanta Falcons 53 10 4 11 Doug Johnson American football 15 Kurt Kittner  7 Michael Vick 30 Woody Dantzler 45 T.
