The combination of the head-to-head loss to the Lobos early in the season and not playing Utah contributed to the three-way tie, and prevented the Wildcats from making a bowl game appearance. After winning against Arizona State in the season finale, Arizona began a decade of futility against their rival, and not winning again until 1974. Arizona's statistical leaders included Lou White with 419 passing yards, Floyd Hudlow with 402 rushing yards, and Rickie Harris with 391 receiving yards.1964 Arizona Wildcats Stats Sports Reference LLC SR/College Football September 6, 2016 https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/arizona/1964.html Schedule y y September 26 BYU Arizona Stadium Tucson, AZ W 39–6 27,400 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-sunday-herald-cougars-fall-to-arizon/155330320/ The Sunday Herald Cougars fall to Arizona in WAC opener September 27, 1964 September 15, 2024 Newspapers.com October 3 Washington State<ncg> Arizona Stadium Tucson, AZ W 28–12 29,400 https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=scteAAAAIBAJ&sjid=pDIMAAAAIBAJ&pg=1960%2C665897 Lewiston Morning Tribune Idaho Associated Press Arizona tumbles WSU Cougars October 4, 1964 10https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=jGRYAAAAIBAJ&sjid=l_cDAAAAIBAJ&pg=5183%2C1016308 Spokane Daily Chronicle Washington Johnson Bob Cougars prepare for UOP; Arizona scores 28–12 win October 5, 1963 17 October 10 at New Mexico University Stadium Albuquerque, NM (rivalry) L 7–10 20,844 Field Goal Gives Lobos 10–7 Upset Win: 'Cats Tumble In WAC Tilt Albuquerque Journal LeRoy Bearman October 11, 1964 E1 https://www.newspapers.com/clip/25003640/field_goal_gives_lobos_107_upset_win/ October 17 at Oregon<ncg> Hayward Field Eugene, OR L 0–21 18,000 https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=0_tVAAAAIBAJ&sjid=BuMDAAAAIBAJ&pg=5223%2C3501081 Eugene Register-Guard Oregon Uhrhammer Jerry Oregon still exploding: Arizona beaten 21-0 October 18, 1964 1B October 24 Wyoming Arizona Stadium Tucson, AZ W 15–7 26,500 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-ogden-standard-examiner-arizona-upse/155332931/ The Ogden Standard-Examiner Arizona upsets Wyoming October 25, 1964 September 15, 2024 Newspapers.com October 31 at Air Force<ncg> Falcon Stadium Colorado Springs, CO L 0–7 32,325 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-daily-breeze-air-force-nips-arizona/155333347/ The Daily Breeze Air Force nips Arizona November 1, 1964 September 15, 2024 Newspapers.com November 7 Idaho<ncg> Arizona Stadium Tucson, AZ W 14–7 21,500 https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=iK9eAAAAIBAJ&sjid=cS8MAAAAIBAJ&pg=5623%2C1391502 Lewiston Morning Tribune Idaho Arizona scores in final minute to nip Idaho 14–7 November 8, 1964 9 November 14 at Texas Western<ncg> Sun Bowl El Paso, TX W 14–0 8,355 https://www.newspapers.com/article/fort-collins-coloradoan-arizona-hits-tex/155333449/ Fort Collins Coloradoan Arizona hits Texas Western for two TDs November 15, 1964 September 15, 2024 Newspapers.com November 21 Iowa State<ncg> Arizona Stadium Tucson, AZ T 0–0 24,000 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-arizona-republic-ua-iowa-state-tie/155333641/ The Arizona Republic UA, Iowa State tie, 0–0 November 22, 1964 September 15, 2024 Newspapers.com November 28 Arizona State Arizona Stadium Tucson, AZ (rivalry) W 30–6 29,000 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-spokesman-review-title-share-to-ariz/155332176/ The Spokesman-Review Title share to Arizona after upset November 29, 1964 September 15, 2024 Newspapers.com Coaching staff Ron Marciniak Ed Cavanaugh Jake Rowden References Arizona Category:Arizona Wildcats football seasons Category:Western Athletic Conference football champion seasons Arizona Wildcats football
