Among the season's highlights were the Gators' conference wins over the Mississippi State Bulldogs (31–14), Tulane Green Wave (24–7) and Kentucky Wildcats (16–14), and victories over the in-state rival Florida State Seminoles (9–3) and Miami Hurricanes (14–10). The Gators also suffered their worst loss since 1942—a 51–0 blowout by the Georgia Bulldogs. Graves' 1968 Florida Gators finished 6–3–1 overall and 3–2–1 in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), tying for sixth among the ten teams of the SEC. 2024 SEC Football Media Guide https://www.secsports.com/mediaguide24-sec Southeastern Conference 63, 66 December 28, 2024 Schedule 1968 AP September 21 w y y 6 Air Force Tampa Stadium Tampa, FL 23–20 52,626 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-spokesman-review-gators-squeak-past/133834813/ The Spokesman-Review Gators squeak past Air Force September 22, 1968 October 21, 2023 Newspapers.com September 28 w y y 5 Florida State Doak Campbell Stadium Tallahassee, FL rivalry ABC 9–3 45,256 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-bradenton-herald-gators-win-battle-o/133834957/ The Bradenton Herald Gators win battle of Tallahassee September 29, 1968 October 21, 2023 Newspapers.com October 5 w 4 Mississippi State Florida Field Gainesville, FL 31–14 54,921 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-tampa-tribune-christian-sparks-gator/133831994/ The Tampa Tribune Christian sparks Gators to No. 3 October 6, 1968 October 21, 2023 Newspapers.com October 12 w 7 TulaneFlorida's game against Tulane counted in the SEC standings. n Florida Field Gainesville, FL 24–7 48,106 https://www.newspapers.com/clip/86324523/late-td-blitz-saves-gators-243/ The Orlando Sentinel Late TD blitz saves Gators, 24–3 October 13, 1968 October 21, 2023 Newspapers.com October 19 l y y 7 North Carolina Kenan Memorial Stadium Chapel Hill, NC 7–22 28,000 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-danville-register-north-carolina-ups/133835168/ The Danville Register North Carolina upsets seventh-ranked Florida, 22–7 October 20, 1968 October 21, 2023 Newspapers.com October 26 t y 15 Vanderbilt Dudley Field Nashville, TN 14–14 15,500 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-tampa-tribune-gators-rebound-to-tie/133833516/ The Tampa Tribune Gators rebound to tie Vandy October 27, 1968 October 21, 2023 Newspapers.com November 2 l y 20 Auburn Florida Field Gainesville, FL rivalry 13–24 63,122 https://www.newspapers.com/article/tallahassee-democrat-auburn-spoils-uf-ho/133835298/ Tallahassee Democrat Auburn spoils UF homecoming 24–13 November 3, 1968 October 21, 2023 Newspapers.com November 9 l y Georgia 9 Gator Bowl Stadium Jacksonville, FL rivalry 0–51 70,012 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-spokesman-review-soph-quarterback-le/133830960/ The Spokesman-Review Soph quarterback leads Georgia win November 10, 1968 October 21, 2023 Newspapers.com November 16 w y Kentucky rivalry McLean Stadium Lexington, KY 16–14 20,000 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-cincinnati-enquirer-florida-nips-uk/133829929/ The Cincinnati Enquirer Florida nips UK, 16–14 November 17, 1968 October 21, 2023 Newspapers.com November 30 w y Miami (FL) Florida Field Gainesville, FL rivalry 14–10 55,875 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-palm-beach-post-gators-surprise-miam/133835470/ The Palm Beach Post-Times Gators surprise Miami 14–10 December 1, 1968 October 21, 2023 Newspapers.com 2015 Florida Gators Football Media Guide https://web.archive.org/web/20151208143532/http://web.gatorzone.com/football/media/2015/media_guide.pdf 2015-12-08 , University Athletic Association, Gainesville, Florida, p. 107 (2015).
