English football club season December 2022 Arsenal 1934–35 George Allison Samuel Hill-Wood Highbury First Division 1st FA Cup Sixth Round 1933–34 1935–36 The 1934–35 season was Arsenal's 16th consecutive season in the top division of English football. After the death of Herbert Chapman in January 1934, Joe Shaw had been designated as caretaker, but in the summer George Allison became full-time manager. In his debut season, he guided Arsenal to their third consecutive league title, with Arsenal finishing four points ahead of Sunderland and winning it at Middlesbrough. The Charity Shield was won at Highbury with a 4–0 victory over Manchester City, but the FA Cup run was ended by Sheffield Wednesday in the quarter-finals. During the season Arsenal had their highest ever Highbury attendance, with 73,295 witnessing a goalless draw against title rivals Sunderland. Ted Drake was top scorer with a club-record 42 goals from 41 league matches, thus topping the league scoring charts. In all competitions he made five more starts and scored two more goals. This season, Arsenal won 8-0 twice, against Leicester City and Middlesbrough, 7–0 against Wolves, 8–1 against Liverpool and 6–0 at rivals Tottenham.https://www.arsenal.com/history/herbert-chapman/arsenal-clinch-a-hat-trick-of-titles Arsenal clinch a hat-trick of titles Results Arsenal's score comes firsthttp://www.statto.com/football/teams/arsenal/1934-1935/results Arsenal results for the 1934-1935 season – Statto.com 16 May 2018 29 August 2016 https://web.archive.org/web/20160829174222/http://www.statto.com/football/teams/arsenal/1934-1935/results live Legend WinDrawLoss Football League First Division 1934–35 Football League DateOpponentVenueResultAttendanceScorers 25 August 1934 PortsmouthA3–339,710 1 September 1934 LiverpoolH8–154,062 5 September 1934 Blackburn RoversH4–039,654 8 September 1934 Leeds UnitedA1–129,447 15 September 1934 West Bromwich AlbionH4–340,016 17 September 1934 Blackburn RoversA0–225,472 22 September 1934 Sheffield WednesdayA0–024,751 29 September 1934 BirminghamH5–147,868 6 October 1934 Stoke CityA2–245,340 13 October 1934 Manchester CityH3–068,145 20 October 1934 Tottenham HotspurH5–170,544 27 October 1934 SunderlandA1–243,744 3 November 1934 EvertonH2–050,350 10 November 1934 Grimsby TownA2–226,288 17 November 1934 Aston VillaH1–254,226 24 November 1934 ChelseaA5–243,419 1 December 1934 Wolverhampton WanderersH7–039,532 8 December 1934 Huddersfield TownA1–136,113 15 December 1934 Leicester CityH8–023,689 22 December 1934 Derby CountyA1–326,091 25 December 1934 Preston North EndH5–340,201 26 December 1934 Preston North EndA1–239,411 29 December 1934 PortsmouthH1–136,054 5 January 1935 LiverpoolA2–055,794 19 January 1935 Leeds UnitedH3–037,026 30 January 1935 West Bromwich AlbionA3–042,997 2 February 1935 Sheffield WednesdayH4–157,922 9 February 1935 BirminghamA0–350,188 20 February 1935 Stoke CityH2–030,529 23 February 1935 Manchester CityA1–179,491 6 March 1935 Tottenham HotspurA6–047,714 9 March 1935 SunderlandH0–073,295 16 March 1935 EvertonA2–050,389 23 March 1935 Grimsby TownH1–133,591 30 March 1935 Aston VillaA3–159,572 6 April 1935 ChelseaH2–254,020 13 April 1935 Wolverhampton WanderersA1–140,888 19 April 1935 MiddlesbroughH8–045,719 20 April 1935 Huddersfield TownH1–041,892 22 April 1935 MiddlesbroughA1–029,171 27 April 1935 Leicester CityA5–326,958 4 May 1935 Derby CountyH0–136,421 Final League table First Division y ARS FA Cup 1934–35 FA Cup +RoundDateOpponentVenueResultAttendanceGoalscorersR312 January 1935 Brighton & Hove AlbionA2–022,343R426 January 1935 Leicester CityA1–039,494R516 February 1935 ReadingA1–030,621R62 March 1935 Sheffield WednesdayA1–266,945 See also English football 1934–35 in English football List of Arsenal F.C. seasons References September 2010 Category:English football clubs 1934–35 season 1934-35 1934-35
